Cascade Saddle
Even with expert backcountry experience, Cascade Saddle is still one of the most treacherous hikes in the world. The trail to Aspiring Hut is difficult and strenuous and should only be attempted during good weather. The trail climbs steeply for 600 meters, with an additional 700 meters above the bush edge. This means it’s basically a 1.3-kilometer vertical climb. At the top, you’ll have views of Mount Aspiring, Mount Avalanche, and Mount Rob Roy, in addition to other breathtaking views. Still, you have to be careful embarking on this trek (Conservation Blog).
