White-Bellied Pangolin
Native to Africa, these pangolins thrive in the forest. But over the past two decades, their population has declined by almost 40%. This is due to forest loss and the trafficking of their scales from Africa to Asia. They face increasing rates of exploitation. Other species of pangolin, including the Chinese pangolin and Suda pangolin, may go extinct within the next decade if we don’t change our habits to stop this trend towards extinction. This is mainly due to illegal poaching, an unfortunate truth of our world (Born Free USA).
